Artists Couples
The NewMediaFestival2020 selections use the pool of more than 8000 artvideos originating from the diverse festival and project platforms, like CologneOFF, artvideoKOELN or the 5 Memorials for Humanity in order to compose programs under most different selection topics and criteria.
A fascinating aspect is representing the phenomenon of the “artists couples”, and in each case it is question – is there more than just a professional partnership?. Often the professional partners are at the same time love partners. Can this “beyond” experienced in the videos, the kind of topic, the kind of dealing with the theme or the way of representing? In which way do the partners influence and inspire each other?
The selected videos are characterized by a particular intensity and complexity, sometimes only the credits give an idea in which way the partners are primarily involved.

The Female Eye
The Darkroom @ The New Museum of Networked Art
is continuing today the thematic feature “The Female Eye!” by releasing the screening program 14.
Generally the share of females in the Western society is more than 50%, and it is no secrete as it is said, that in addition to the physical difference, the female emotional and psychological condition is different than the male one. Indeed, the majority of all artists Wilfried collaborated with since 2000 is – female. Is this majority dealing with different topics, and additionally in different ways? The viewer or user is invited to make up his/her mind.
The 3rd part of the curated show is including 12 female participants from the years 2005-2020 represented in 2 screening programs – each one of a duration between 50 and 70 minutes. The term “compilation” would be wrong, one has to speak rather of a composition incorporating individual works generating the “whole” of an image, in these terms the images of the 2 presented programs generate a new image as a basis for one’s reflection. In this way, there does not exist an objective image, the programs form the basis for the images each viewer is generating according to his individual experiences.
