Belgrade

Today, Wilfried’s traces can be recovered in the capital of Serbia, also once capital of the former Yugoslavia. In Wilfried’s memory Serbia, and Belgrade is nowadays standing for it, is the place for ideological (Communiste) hardliners, for instance responsible for the Srebrenica massacre – a genocide in the heart of Europe. Of course, most of the usual people living there are peaceful, and surely local artists belong to them, but the violent Past is and was not reduced to this massacre, but is representing an essential part of the country’s history – to be the dominating power on the Balkan. Usually, Wilfried does not care about the history if people were changing during the times – in any case, Wilfried did not find the violent Past so attractive for attending a collaboration in Belgrade, although it is certainly a pity, because mostly stereotypes and pre-judications are not true in reality. There are two events only in which Wilfried was participating with a video and a curated selection from CologneOFF – today, in 2004 the screening of his experimental video – Urban.early sunday morning_raw – in the framework of Belgrade Summer Festival – BELEF, and in 2007 the collaboration with SKC – Studentski Kulturani Centar – presenting at VIP Gallery – The Best of CologneOFF I.

Synopsis
Video based on a poetic text by Agricola de Cologne inspired by the Central Station of Milan (Italy).

Metropolis: sunday morning, between open end and twilight, between hope and resignation, between following a dream and returning that night to the home town or village outside.
Coming from the disco, full of the impressions of that juicy girl or that horny boy, doubtful of whether preserving innocence or following the instinct for an outstanding erotic adventure.
It is the moment of not yet knowing, vacillating between yes or no.
It is a same ritual each week-end, even if decisions are made once.
It is a game between identifying and identity.
The work describes the urban landscape as a scenario of a play, where the protagonists are embedded in without any chance to escape.
