Today 21 March, CologneOFF is visiting Paris. Wilfried is presenting a selection from CologneOFF X – Brave New World @ Parachute Light Zero Festival 2015 organised by Gabriel Otero in Paris.

In 2000, creator of the structure «Rattlesnake Multimedia Design Productora Independiente», Gabriel Otero, director in audiovisual and multimedia techniques, designer for multimedia installations, he launches in Rosario/Argentina, the first edition of «Festival Internacional de Arte Digital». This event, the most important for the diffusion of digital art, was declared to be municipal interest by the «Honourable Concejo Deliberante» and provincial interest through developing concepts of cultural and artistic events, regularly based on the use of digital arts and multimedia.technologies.

Gabriel is not unknown to Wilfried, because in the years 2005-2007 Gabriel organised in Argentina several festivals in Rosario and Bahia Blanca, Wilfried was participating in with his curated video programs several times. In 2006, Wilfried was invited to attend the Digital Art Festival Rosario and his travel was funded by the Cultural Department of the City of Rosario. In coming November, an individual article will feature this event. Afterwards, Gabriel left Argentina and settled in Paris. So, the new participation in Gabriel’s new festival activities starting already in 2013, see further ahead, is the continuation of a long collaboration. As an artist, Gabriel was already participating in Wilfried’s early projects online in 2000 and 2001, like 9/11 Memorial 2001 or 2003 in JavaMuseum’s LatinoNetarte.net.

JavaMuseum – Netart

Like described before, the genre of “netart” is basically suffering from the fact, that many works active between 2000 and 2010 are no longer online or the creators were vanishing without any trace. When artists, active particularly between 200 annd 2004, were continuing artistic activities, they often recognized their early (netart) works as not appropriate any more, also because time simply was going on.

When Wilfried started JavaMuseum in 2000, he was surprised how many artists came from Latin American countries. Affordable hardware and software gave Latin American artists access to participate in what was going on on a global scale. The democratization via the Internet allowed the artists to share their works with the rest of world, this was very important for their identity and self-confidence.

Today on 21 March 2003, JavaMuseum releases the new show LatinoNetartArte.net online intending to include many of the artists which saw their artistic perspectives in new media. The works demonstrate the similiarity in working on the technological and artistic level, and that those artists, living “at the end of the world” know exactly what is going on in the world due the Internet access. Artists from Chile, Argentina or Brazil participate in the global activities like any other artist from USA, Uk, France or Italy. In terms of this type of art it is appropriate to speak of a positive globalization in art through participation and exchange.

One year later, on 21 March 2004, JavaMuseum is releasing a show featuring netart from Spain only, representing the extension of the Spanish section of LatinoNetarte.net, entitled:
I-Corrida - netart from Spain

Since the netart work in this show are linked, and now in 2020 there are too many dead link, the artists’ names below are linked with their biography valid on 21 March 2004.
