Today, Wilfried is jumping just within a few days another time to Chicago in order to present his web based project ” A Virtual Memorial” @ Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in the framework of Version >02 Festival , the festival will be running until 20 April 2002. This is the 1st of several following collaborations with Version Festival and the leading person behind – Edward Marszewksi (Edmar) und his company “Lumpen Media”. In 2004, Wilfried will participate in Version >04 Festival (16 April – 1 May 2004) with The RRF Project (Version MNAC Bucharest), in 2005 in Version >05 Festival (25 April -1 May 2005) with Women: Memory of Repression in Argentina – and another event, organised by Edmar, Select Media 4 Festival Chicago -(20 October-13 November 2005) with his curated VideoChannel selection – Secret Memories, and finally in 2007 in Version >07 Festival with his video “Bareback- Serial disCharge”.

    Thanks to the curators Bjoern Norberg, Laura Chiari, Alex Haupt, Heidi J. Figueroa Sarriera and Marianne Ramírez-Aponte, videoraum.net, Sinasi Gunes and Melody Parker-Carter

    But today, Wilfried does not know yet, about these numerous collaborations, nor that he will meet Edmar one year later on “New Media Nation – The Festivals of Festivals” in Bratislava/Slovakia, where Wilfried and Edmar are participating, while Edmar will present the festival context he initiated in Chicago, Wilfried is doing the same with his “Violence Online Festival”, which however was rather a kind of prototype of real festivals he will be realising during more than one decade. Funny will be that Edmar is participating in Violence Online Festival.

    So, both, Edmar and Wilfried are surprised to meet each other in Bratislava for the 1st and only time. For Wilfried, it was also a surprise in another concern because differently than the other participants, among them also the director of the famous Ars Electronica, Edmar had a spontaneous and open nature, he did not need to play the role of a festival director, because it was his personality to be very active all the time and realize a lot of things at the same time, it was interesting to learn about multitasking. So, during the festival in Bratislava it was actually Edmar who gave this festival some fresh spirit due to his spontaneity and unconventional ideas.

    • neither Version Fest, nor Select Media Festival, nor any website related to these activities are still active, and hardly documented therefore. That’s really a pity, while Edmar still is professionally active.
