5th edition of NewMediaFest2020
1 May 2020 – International Day of Labour. This year, in times of the Corona crisis 1 May gets a complete new meaning, because millions of people around the globe loose their jobs and labour will organized in Future completely differently!
1 May 2020 – is the day to launch the May edition of NewMediaFest 2020, and – everything which had be routine before changes its meaning. The astonishing development is representing, that all those people who were taunting those others whose farsightedness was including the Internet as a basic component in their artistic work, suddenly changed their mind, because otherwise they were threatened with extinct, and now neglecting the reality like before are suddenly the big inventors who recovered the Internet as their place for activities. This ignorance needs to be punished!
Coming back to NewMediaFest2020, the launch of the May edition is representing factually its start only, because each day of the month the next component will be added until finally on 31 May only the May edition will be complete – like on 31 January 2020, the January edition, on 29 February 2020, the February 2020 edition, on 31 March 2020 the March edition and on 30 April 2020, the April edition were only complete, so how the May edition really might look like will be obvious only after 31 days, this is good, of course for any extension in shape of new components like in April 2020 – as a reaction on the Corona crisis – a new open call causing a new (and most impressing) film collection – “Corona! Shut Down?.

Today starts the 31 days lasting 5th festival edition – installing the virtual DARKROOM for ADAF – Athens Digital Arts Festival – collaboration partner 2006-2018 – the next following cooperation in May 2020 had to be postponed due to the Corona crisis. The Darkroom is featuring 10 exclusive videoart programs streaming online as they were originally presented in physical space – 8 provided by CologneOFF curated by Wilfried Agricola De Cologne and one by Eirini Olympiou and a 2nd one by Sotiris Iliadis from ADAF .
!! – Videoartist of the Month May 2020 is the Peruvian artist – Mauricio Sanhueza featuring 7 of his imaginative creations- complemented by 6 hours selected programs of CologneOFF IV – Here We Are – demonstrating the selfconfidence we need to overcome Corona.
!! – Netartist of the Month 2020 is Calin Man, the Romanian artist and curator, featuring 10 of his extraordinary net based creations – complemented by interactive netart works by Julian Konczak, JiHyun Ahn, J.R.Carpenter, Curt Cloninger, Ayman Azraq, DLSAN, Jillian McDonald
The soundart selection is featuring SoundLAB II released 2005 and a special selection of 20 soundartworks.
All features are complemented by interviews with artists of netart, videoart and soundart.
This program forms the basis of NewMediaFest2020 to be complemented by the daily features of The 365 Days Diary – each day another surprise!
