Today, Wilfried is attending the final day of 3rd Orebro International Video Art Festval, organised by art:screen Sweden- run by Eva Olsson & Jonas Nilsson. Both do not only act as curators but also as videoartists, whereby Eva’s creations are focussed on animated contents. She submitted in total 6 videos, and Jonas 4 videos, participating in VideoChannel and CologneOFF International Videoart Festival. In 2007, they started to present their curated programs at first in Västerås – a place situated on the way from Stockholm to Örebro, and in 2008, they switched to their living place Örebro, where they continued in April the videoart screenings before they launched in October 2008 – the 1st Örebro International Video Art Festival. Wilfried invited to participate as a videoartist and curator of VideoChannel, attended this very promissing inaugural event.
The festival was planned from the beginning as a bi-annually organised event, to be alternated by videoart screenings in the years in between. Wilfried was participating in 2009 in these screenings with his video “Silent Cry” and 2010 in the 2nd Örebro Videoart Festival, this time only via his video “The Pleasure Code”. In 2011, Wilfried was scheduling – Eva’s and Jonas’ curated contribution of Swedish videoart – Nordic Focusseveral times in the framework of ColognOFF 2011 – Videoart in a global context in Finland, Estonia, Poland, Russia, Romania and India, and in 2012, thus this year, Wilfried is invited to participate in attending the 3rd Örebro Festival edition, where he will meet some other curators he is collaborating with already since some years. Today, however at the final day the festival hosts and their guests are happy how successfully the festival was realizing again their networking ideas, the guests do not know yet, that the 3rd festival will be also last one, not only in Örebro as a venue, but generally, after 2013, both discontinue at least their curatorial work completely, and remove all available information from the net, as if their artistic curatorial work starting in 2007 and lasting in 2013 would not have existed, at all, but both will be represented in Wilfried’s networking event in Cuzco/Peru 2013 at VideoBabel – audiovisual festival – with a 2nd curatorial contribution, entitled: “Trial & Error” – it will be also the last time.
It is like in a usual inter-human relationship, everything is more or less temporarily limited, people walk for a cetain time a common path together, and sometimes a crossroad appears and their ways part forever, that’s nothing unusual, but it is a pity in this case, because the video art scene is missing both, even meanwhile so many years have passed.
In the framework of his birthday celebrations – The NewMediaFest2020, Wilfried would like to thank both talented creatives for the good experiences of networking together!
Good luck for both on their way!

(discontinued since 2013)

art:screen was a screening event and platform that showcases new, compelling, innovative and contemporary moving image from Swedish and international artists. art:screen is, for many artists, the window for showing their work in Sweden and Europe.

art:screen shows single-channel screening programmes which have tempo and flow. To create this, the duration of works are at maximum five minutes long. The programmes explore new ways of seeing reality from a cultural, social and individual perspective and often employ humour to give new insights.

art:screen is co-operating with international video art festivals and art organizers where art:screen is invited to curate screening programmes. art:screen is also offering screening programmes to Swedish art institutions and art associations who wants to broaden their art activities, but doesn’t have access to, or possesses video works.

Art Video Screening – Orebro/SWE – Bio Roxy – 17 October 2009 – Silent Cry
Agricola de Cologne – Silent Cry, 2016, 3:40

Short synopsis
Silent Cry is the visualization of an internal cry happening all the time, when society does not allow to show deep emotional affection. The silent cry is always present caused by never ending traumatizations during decades hidden behind the facade people wants to see. And even if the cry would be be seen or heard, people would refuse to face it. The work release is giving sound a particular relevance.

1st Orebro International Videoart Festival 2008
Video Art Screenings Orebro/Sweden 17-18 April 2008
Urban.early sunday morning_raw, 2002, 4:40
Synopsis
Video based on a poetic text by Agricola de Cologne inspired by the Central Station of Milan (Italy).

Metropolis: sunday morning, between open end and twilight, between hope and resignation, between following a dream and returning that night to the home town or village outside.
Coming from the disco, full of the impressions of that juicy girl or that horny boy, doubtful of whether preserving innocence or following the instinct for an outstanding erotic adventure.
It is the moment of not yet knowing, vacillating between yes or no.
It is a same ritual each week-end, even if decisions are made once.
It is a game between identifying and identity.
The work describes the urban landscape as a scenario of a play, where the protagonists are embedded in without any chance to escape.

En[code]ed, 2008, 5:00
Digital video inspired by a visit of Thessaloniki.
The work describes the principle of “code” or “coding” in form of an allegory, a metaphoric story as a ritual of meeting, dominating and resigning. The code is identified as a state of the static, dogmatic and conservative, which asks for obedience, but gives no chance to escape.

Artists:
1.
Name: Lestander
First name: Dan
Title of work/year/duration:
Dreams and Wishes, 2009, 4:19 min.

Short synopsis:
For me the ice is beautiful, where it lies as a membrane between the sky and the sea. The ice reminds me, with its clear involvement in metamorphosis, about life and the constant change that everything is going through. The opening, that a hole in the ice constitutes, provides an
opportunity to enter into, or up, to another element. My idea is to utilize the source of this specific space and challenge the expiriense of being human.

2.
Name: Bruun-Nystedt
First name: Elin

Title of work/year/duration:
Frasse and I, 2009, 2:05 min.
Short synopsis:
A short documentary on my ambivalent feelings when going to hamburger restaurants.

3.
Name: Gustavsson
First name: Evelina

Title of work/year/duration:
Mor & dotter (Mother & daughter), 2004, 2:42 min.
Short synopsis:
In Evelina Gustavsson’s film she explores the relationship between mother and daughter – a relationship that can be full of joy but also filled with sorrow and anger. In her work she’s looking for boundaries: how far you can go, how to behave and not to behave and when the line of what is acceptable or not has been croosed. Perhaps there are no limits to what’s
acceptable in such a relationship.#

4.
Name: QNQ/AUJIK

Title of work/year/duration:
A Forest within a Forest, 2010, 5:09 min.
Credits: Music: Mira Calix – Hiccup.
Short synopsis:
We follow Nashi through a journey in an uncanny forest and are introduced to some of her ideas about artificial selections. She states that everything is animated, even the things we consider synthetic and artificial are as sacred as plants and stones.
She criticizes the primitive nature for its inability to development and praises technology for its flexibility and proclaims that nature should adapt to technology in order to survive.

5.
Name: Lundberg
First name: Sara

Title of work/year/duration:
CORDS (hear us and have mercy), 2008, 3:14 min.
Short synopsis: non

6.
Name: Andersson
First name: Malin

Title of work/year/duration:
Cassock, 2009, 2:58 min.
Short synopsis:
Clothes is symbol of identity, structure and power. Through clothes we are given certain rolls and function, whether its a uniform or a certain style of fashion. The videoproject “cassocks” works with what is real and what is not in the eyes of the viewer. Is it a performance? Is she really a priest, or just an artist?

7.
Name: Olsson
First name: Eva

Title of work/year/duration:
The Labyrinth, 2009, 3:41 min.
Short synopsis:
Trapped in a world not of one’s making, in a life not of one’s design.

8.
Name: Perborg
First name: Björn

Title of work/year/duration:
The Trip To America, 2008-2009, 2:14 min.
Short synopsis:
Photografic images come into the field of vision with a typical mechanical “clack” of a slide projector. Soberly but with a touch of admiration, an off-camera voice explains what happened at the airport on the way from Copenhagen to America.
(A small package of laundry detergent, a three centimetre pocketknife and a book on Islam caused an uproar with the airport security personnel).

9.
Name: Härenstam
First name: Mattias

Title of work/year/duration:
Portrait of a smiling man, 2010, 4:30 min. no sound
Short synopsis:
An actor dressed in a dark suit and tie is sitting on a chair. He has been given the task of trying to smile as broad and long as possible. The entire session lasted almost twenty minutes, and over time the smile gradually disintegrates into a more and more grotesque grimace.

10.
Name: Lassila
First name: Nina

Title of work/year/duration:
Woman with knife, 2009, 1:49 min.
Short synopsis: non

11.
Name: Bergström Hansen
First name: Nicola

Title of work/year/duration:
Excavation No.2, 2009, 5:00 min.

Short synopsis:
In Excavation No.2 YouTube clips of men and women shooting into the forest are accompanied by sentences that change with every gunshot. The sentences are all written by John Muir; A romantic naturalist and the father of Yosemite national park. Muirs romantic view on nature contrasts the violent video clips but they both speak of our relationship to nature.
Excavation No.2 originates from a dusty shelf in the library as well as from the dynamic, and shifting archive of YouTube.

12.
Name: Sederowsky
First name: Dana

Title of work/year/duration:
Special announcements edition four, 2009, 1:35 min.
Short synopsis: non

13.
Name: Weberg
First name: Anders

Title of work/year/duration:
Undisclosed beauty, 2008, 3:13 min.
Short synopsis:
Just because You spit in my eyes does not mean that I have clear vision.

14.
Name: Nilsson
First name: Jonas
Title of work/year/duration:

The choice, 2009, 2:15 min.
Short synopsis:
We have become aware that in the great game that is being played, we are the players as well as being the cards, and the stakes… What disconcerts the modern world at its very root is not being sure… that there is an outcome, a suitable outcome to evolution.
The human being is supposedly the most intelligent being in existence, yetwe are also the most destructive, the most self-consumed, the greediest, etc. We have the ability to be the superior organism, but we have (as a whole) become the most inferior.

15.
Name: Savela
First name: Antti
Title of work/year/duration:

My Way, 2010, 4:50 min.
Short synopsis:
In this video I have brought together eight complete strangers to sing “My Way” by Jacques Revaux and Claude Francois.

The experimental film tells the story of a homeless person, who lost its identity in all the traumatic experiences it was undergoing. Again, Agricola de Cologne uses the form of the allegorical representation for pointing to essential questions of human existence. All people are homeless in on or the other way, most however, suffer from it without being aware of it. The film is a mirror of our time which has lost its roots.
