Today, 17 January 2012, is the CologneOFF screening in Minsk/Belarus taking place in the framework of Cinema Perpetuum Mobile Festival 13-18 January 2012.
The CologneOFF program, Wilfried is curating is consisting of one of numerous selections from CologneOFF VII – Art & The City – artists were dealing with the urban context as a basis for artistic reflections.
Open the Belarussian festival schedule
A venue in Belarus seemed to be quite exotic, since it is a widely closed and unknown country ruled since decades by the same communist dictator. Exactly this was the challenge, to enter a restricted area, and what’s Wilfried’s intentions always have been – to include instead of exclude. Belarus and its population suffering from the political, economical and cultural restrictions are part of “our” Europe. That’s one message of this collaboration.
The CologneOFF festival series of 10 festival editions 2005-2014 were – of course – realized in an exchange between virtual and physical space. The complete festival program could be entered online, while in physical space the curated selections were screened, so that artists who were not selected for a screening were part of the respective CologneOFF manifestation, anyway. In 2012, had been 35 Manifestations, an all time record.
