VideoBabel – international audiovisual festival

Cuzco

As a craddle of human civilization, Peru is certainly one of the most exciting countries in South America, therefore it is more than a pity, that there were always reasons, why a travel to Peru did not succeed so far, while Wilfried visited most other Southern American countries already. In so far, it is today in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 just a virtual jump, but a presentation of his curated videoart programs in the physical space of VideoBabel, an audio-visual festival located in the former INCA capital Cusco. Thanks to Vera Tyuleneva, the Russian born festival director and curator, Wilfried was presenting in an exchange several times ger curated video programs South american and Peruvian videoart on different occasion.

VideoBabel
The VideoBabel Festival

http://www.festivalvideobabel.org
is a project with an international reach, founded in 2009 by Dr. Jorge Mora Fernández, Spain (www.drjorgemora.com), and based in the city of Cusco, Peru. It is a project focused upon the democratization, dissemination and promotion of audiovisual and digital culture in Peru and other regions of the world. More than 3700 audiovisual works from different countries have participated in the open calls of its nine annual editions held since 2010.

Beginning with the 2013 event, the festival is focused upon innovative expressive languages and include animation, video art and experimental audiovisual production. The competition is open to all those who wish to take part and is oriented towards artists in Peru, Latin America and the rest of the world; besides, a collaboration and exchange program is being developed with events and organizations that share our objectives in different regions around the world. The main goal of this program is, on the one hand, to provide a broader international platform for the diffusion of Peruvian and Latin American audiovisual production, and, on the other hand, to showcase in Peru the latest achievements and experiments to emerge from other parts of the world.

VideoBabel is directed & curated by Vera Tyuleneva.
